For personal use

  • You can listen to these lectures in the privacy of your own home, while driving in your car, or wherever else you find it convenient to do so.
  • It is not advisable to listen to more than one lecture at a time. No matter how eager you may be to hear more, do allow an interval of a day or more between lectures. This will enable you to better absorb what you have heard. You may even wish to repeat the same lecture, because in hearing it the second time you will invariably find new insights and pleasure.
  • Follow the study-outline for each lecture and try to read as much as possible of the suggested reading list. Most of the books may be found in a nearby public, community center, or synagogue library. Some of them are available in paperback and you may wish to acquire them for your own library.

In the classroom or discussion group

  • The class or group should have a fixed meeting time – once a week, twice a week, etc. – according to its own preference.
  • In any case, it is not advisable to have the group listen to, and discuss, more than one lecture at a time.
  • The instructor or leader of the group should listen to each lecture prior to the group meeting, and also read in advance at least some of the material suggested in the guide; as well as preparing a number of questions relating to the lecture for discussion by the group.
  • The cassette-lecture should be played at the beginning of the group meeting and then followed by a discussion led by the instructor or leader.
  • Assignments for reading and reporting to the next meeting should be given to the members of the group to encourage their participation during discussions.
  • More detailed information on how to organize and lead a discussion group will be found in a special leaflet published by JPUA.
