About the lecturer
Professor Carole S. Kessner teaches in the Comparative Literature and Judaic Studies Departments at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
She received degrees from Brandeis and Queens College, and her PhD from Stony Brook. Although she started her career as a specialist in seventeenth-century English literature and in American literature, she has devoted her main efforts to probing the Jewish aspects of these literatures. She has read papers at Ben Gurion University (Israel), the Modern Language Association yearly conventions and other places.
Professor Kessner has written and recorded two other much acclaimed courses for the Jewish People's University of the Air – The Holocaust and the Creative Imagination and The Jew As Myth in English and American Literature.
