About the lecturer
Professor Mordecai S. Chertoff is editor of the Herzl Press. He edited and contributed to The New Left and the Jews, a collection of essays by Israeli and American scholars; edited Zionism: A Basic Reader, for the Herzl Press, and contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of Israel and Zionism and a volume on Jerusalem. In addition to articles and reviews in American journals, he edited a series of pamphlets on Israeli and American-Jewish problems for the American Histadrut Cultural Exchange.
Dr. Chertoff was born and raised in New York City and lived in Israel from 1946-1950. He is a graduate of C.C.N.Y. and the Jewish Theological Seminary from which he received rabbinic ordination and a D.H.L. in Bible. He has taught at the University of Texas and the Pittsburgh College of Jewish Studies, and lectured at the Herzl Institute in New York.
